Kansas State delivered one of the most thrilling comebacks in Rate Bowl history on Thursday night, overcoming a 17-point deficit in the third quarter to defeat Rutgers 44-41 at Chase Field in Phoenix.

What seemed like a lost cause turned into an unforgettable triumph for the Wildcats, fueled by Dylan Edwards’ record-breaking performance. The Wildcats dominated offensively with 542 total yards, 347 of which came on the ground. Quarterback Avery Johnson also played a pivotal role, completing 15 of 30 passes for 195 yards and three touchdowns. On defense, Kansas State tightened up in the second half, limiting Rutgers to just 82 yards after allowing 319 in the first half.

Rutgers started strong, led by Antwan Raymond’s 113 rushing yards and three touchdowns, and quarterback Athan Kaliakmanis’ 237 passing yards. However, the Scarlet Knights couldn’t maintain their momentum, faltering in the face of K-State’s relentless second-half resurgence.

The Wildcats’ comeback showcased big plays on both sides of the ball. Defensive MVP Austin Moore delivered six tackles, while freshman Zashon Rich made a crucial stop late in the game to help K-State run out the clock.
